End of Summer

Every Memorial Day Anthony's family had a tradition of going to the Zoo. I found out shortly after Jessica was born. They said we were expected to participate and continue the tradition. Jessica was exactly three weeks old! But I was a good wife and bundled up my newborn (it was cold for the end of May that year) and headed out to join the family at the Zoo.

Every year since, we have faithfully attended with the family. But a couple of years ago, they decided they were tired of going to the zoo and wanted to do something different, but we didn't actually DO anything. The next year fell through as well. This year we got rained out, so we went to the movies instead. Well Melissa has not had as many chances to go to the zoo as all the older cousins who are bored with it, so I promised her we would go on Labor Day with or without the cousins. But when we heard it was going to rain on Labor Day too, we decided to go yesterday so we wouldn't miss our chance. Jessica had to work and none of the cousins wanted to join us, so we went without them!

White Family Vacation

We finally got to go on a vacation together. It's the first trip we've taken with the whole family since Melissa was born. Anthony has missed a couple of trips, so we were excited to all be going together. We went in June of 2008 and spent a week in California visiting Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World and the Beach. Here are some snapshots of our trip.

Anthony White, Magician

Anthony has been performing magic shows for kids for the past 10 years for birthday parties, libraries and school shows - just as a hobby. Now he has decided to try magic as his full time endeavor. He is actually a really good comical kids show magician, and he'd love as much word of mouth business as he can get. Please check out his website at www.magicallyfun.com. Oh, and Anthony now has a live bunny for the act! It's an all black mini velveteen bunny, and his name is Puff the Magic Rabbit!

Me and My Family

Quick history: I was born of very goodly parents who raised me in the Salt Lake City area. I am from pioneer ancestors and am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have 4 sisters and now 4 brothers-in-law. My extended families are huge. I married my true love in 1990 and we have 3 children ages 17, 14 and 8. We still live in the Salt Lake Valley area.

I have recently joined a bunch of clubs: Working Mothers; The Middle-Aged; Parent of Teenagers (which automatically enters me into the Club of Old-Fashioned Know Nothings); and because my husband recently became a full-time magician, I've joined The Club of the Self-Employed (which really means The Terminally Poor But With Great Hopes Club - thank heavens I have my job, though it doesn't quite pay the bills). Unfortunately I have also joined The Grief Stricken Club since my parents recently passed away within 17 months of each other. That's the worst club to be a part of, although I really don't feel part of a club, I feel very much alone.

Even though I miss my parents terribly, I know I'll see them again. That knowledge keeps me going. Other than that, I am fairly happy with my lot in life. I have a happy marriage, great kids, wonderful sisters and lots of family support. I have a good ward for additional spiritual support. All of that helps me get through the tough times. I'm grateful for my blessings.

Baby Blogger

Ok, so I decided to join the throng and post a blog. It's not that I think I have anything important to say, it's more just a desire to be a part of the world and have a fun way for friends and family to be able to connect. After all, it is the 21st century, right? So I'm trying to keep up with the times.
